Who we are

SkiMate is an app to find partners for mountain activities (skiing, trekking and biking) near you. This policy explains what data we process and why.

Data we collect

• Account: email, password (stored hashed), name or nickname and age.
• Profile (optional): photo, level, nationality, languages, interests and status.
• Precise location: while you use the app and, if you allow it, also in the background, to show you people nearby and let your connections see where you are on the mountain. You can hide yourself or turn it off at any time.
• Content: messages, groups, plans and reports you send.
• Device: push notification token and app language.

How we use it

To provide the service (discover people, map, chat, plans), send notifications, keep the community safe (blocking and reporting) and send service emails such as password recovery. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

What other users see

Your public profile (name, photo, level, languages, interests) is visible to nearby people in the same activity. Your map location is only visible to accepted connections and never while you are hidden.

Who we share data with

Only with providers that help us run the app: server hosting and database, cloud photo storage, Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push (notifications) and an email provider. They process data on our behalf.

Retention

We keep your data while you have an account. Location is overwritten, no history is stored. When you delete your account everything is erased immediately.

Your rights

You can access, correct and delete your data in the app, and delete your account in Profile → Delete account or at /delete-account. If you are in the EU you have GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection) and may complain to your data protection authority.

Minimum age

SkiMate is only for people aged 16 and over.

Changes

If we change this policy we will let you know in the app.
